Getting Ready for a Gala

In our community, there are lots of yearly events and galas held to support local charities. From November until April, you will find people going from event to event, each having a varied degree of attire required.

I recently attended one with my husband which was a fundraiser for our daughter’s school called Angel Ball. This is a formal black-tie event that has raised millions of dollars for tuition assistance and it is one of the premier events on the social calendar in Naples, Florida. It’s really fun because everyone ups their wardrobe for this one! And I love a great excuse to get all dressed up!

For Angel Ball, I wore a Zac Posen dress which I was able to find on the website www.outnet.com.  I love this website!  It’s a designer-based website where there are deals from clothing, shoes to bags. Why pay retail if you can buy twice as much on sale??

I loved the royal blue of this dress and found that the color made my blue eyes really pop. It is also a great shade for blonds and this sweeping floor-length look was perfect with my heels.

My shoes, which you can’t see under the dress but in the next picture are Valentino Garavani Rockstud Patent Leather Gladiator Sandals (find them at Saks Fifth Avenue). These 4-inch strappy sandals are some of my favorites.

I wore a Stella McCartney clutch that I found on the Real Real (www.therealreal.com).  I wanted to find a gold clutch because I think it looks fantastic against the blue gown but didn’t want to spend a big amount.

Luckily I found a great bag that was in near perfect condition and went really well with the gold and black accents of my shoes.

What do you think? What is your gala style when you go out?
